The Best Turntable Actions Are Often Unscripted…

Late last night I completed one of the most amazing turntable sessions ever, in my basement. A few hours earlier I pre-recorded a set for my upcoming internet radio mixshow. (My work schedule often makes this a necessity) I was feeling pretty good about the result in spite of a couple of errors with my mix (the show must go on…) After I stopped recording I noticed that the CD was still running and the next track came on – and it was another one that I hadn’t played in a while. Suddenly I decided to ‘experiment’ and pull out some more CDs…the speakers were turned off, so the only items left with volume were the headphones that were inserted into the mixer. I then imagined myself in front of a sizable crowd at a Milwaukee party, and that they were loving every track I played…I was receiving the energy and giving right back the only ways I knew how, by werking the box and jacking to the beats. Yes, I was dancing, again and again, and again! The music had me in such a state of bliss that all I could think of was finding the next track. The set took a few twists and turned – starting with deep jackin tracks then sliding into some pop/commercial records remixed to underground perfection but soon enough crossing into some caliente grooves but splashing some disco with a touch of jazz. This set was magnificent – so much so, that I wished that I had recorded it. Furthermore, I had no idea how long I played. All the while I thought to myself that this (set) is the future of House Music, and that “I” am the future of House Music… It’s time for me to go “get” it – now!
